B. Background Summary
---------------------

Grew up in Munich, Germany with his two parents: Kalvin and Adelle
Werner. Lukas's father and his father's father ran a Biergarten,
Adelle did most of the cooking, and Lukas served the customers. Lukas
was raised to take over the Biergarten, but applied for Star Fleet
Academy instead. When he was rejected the first time, he almost gave
up and joined the family business. One of his best friends and fellow
waiter, Michael Braun encouraged him to retake the entrance exam the
next year. Lukas made it in, and Michael was chosen to take over the
business.

Lukas returned home often during his time at the Academy. During his
breaks he helped run the family business. He became an adept engineer
rather quickly, and his experience working on the various pieces of
equipment at the Biergarten combined with his Star Fleet engineering
training made him rather useful in maintaining the Biergarten. He
taught Michael as much as he could before graduating. When he wasn't
studying or helping at the Biergarten, he spent his free time fencing
with the Academy Fencing team. He also practiced medieval European
fencing, and managed to place well in several European tournaments. He
was skilled just as well with the foil as the traditional broadsword.

VII. Psychological Profile
==========================

Lukas Werner is a bit of an enigma. He has all the skills of a security
officer as well as an engineer. It seems his motivation for choosing
Engineering as his career was based mostly on preference rather
than experience, as the two skill sets are similarly present.

He enjoys practicing his combat skills when he gets the chance, but he
prefers to fix things whenever he gets the chance. His need to create
outweighs any other motivation.

Whenever he has computer time, he runs simulations for his warp theories.
It might be premature to call this an obsession, however he most certainly
has a strong tendency toward perfectionism. The biggest setbacks he faced
during his training was running out of time on certain exams and tests, as
he insisted on getting things "just right."

Despite this mild tendency toward perfectionism, he seems to be quite
capable as an Engineer and officer. If his perfectionism tendencies increase,
he may need to be reevaluated. I have given him instruction on means to
control this tendency, and do not see it as a problem at the moment.
He is declared psychologically fit for duty.
