B. Background Summary:

Neree's father is a fairly known political figure on Orion, and his ties to the infamous Syndicate are no
secret either. As for Neree herself, she was conceived out of his marriage, by one of his many
"distractions" during some wild party at his summer villa.
More to prevent possible blackmailing on the woman's part than out of any true parental feelings, he
acknowledged the child as his own.
Despite living in a very secluded environment, with an indifferent father and a compassionate but
definitely weak-willed stepmother, Neree developed a cheerful personality, fervid imagination and
an almost boundless curiosity.
Her greatest wish "pursuing a degree in psychology" was opposed by her father (who was never a supporter
of female emancipation to say the least), yet a rare spark of rebellion on her stepmother's part and the
complicity of her self-proclaimed "uncle" Gus (a Ferengi, whose ties to her father are nondescript) made
it possible for her to run off and reach Federation space, where she asked for asylum and later, citizenship.
She applied for Starfleet Academy as soon as she was allowed to.

Neree is so lively and cheerful (and slightly na??ve) that no one would guess the more sordid details
of her birth and upbringing. She doesn't like to speak of that either, and even seems to have shoved
most of the bad memories in some secluded corner of her memory..
