SFSECIS is a civilian Federation law enforcement service that protects and defends Star Fleet/Star Fleet Marine Corps against terrorism and foreign intelligence threats, investigates major criminal offenses. The Service assists commands in maintaining good order and discipline; and provides three core services to Star Fleet and SFMC units throughout the Federation.
SFSECIS is the successor organization to the United Earth’s Naval Criminal Investigative Service, which traces its roots 1882 and the establishment of the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI).
SFSECIS exists to preserve Star Fleet and the Star Fleet Marine Corps’ operational readiness as well as prevent current and future defensive capabilities from being degraded by terrorism, foreign intelligence activities, or criminal activity. SFSECIS’ ability to collect, process, and provide timely, high-quality, and actionable information to Star Fleet Command through investigations, operations, and source networks, ensures SFSECIS remains a critically relevant and essential element of Star Fleet’s continued success.
SFSECIS is Star Fleet’s Defense Criminal Investigative Organization, the Star Fleet Military Criminal Investigative Organization, and Star Fleet’s Military Department Counterintelligence Organization [MDCO]. As such, it is part of its intelligence machinery alongside the Office of Star Fleet Intelligence [OSFI], and other such units authorized by various Sections in the Articles of the Federation Charter.
Though SFSECIS personnel are civilian employees of Star Fleet, all are bound by the same laws as their uniformed brethren are; those of the United Federation of Planets and the Star Fleet Uniform Code of Military Justice.
