Mission Statement

UFPESCO is a specialized angency of the United Federation of Planets. It aims to contribute to the peace and security of the Federation by promoting collaboration among the different Federation cultures and civilizations through education, science and culture in order to further universal respect for justice, for the rule of law and for the sentient rights and fundamental freedoms which are affirmed for the peoples and races of the Federation, without distinction of species, race, sex, language or religion, by the Charter of the United Federation of Planets.

UFPESCO is an administrative branch of the United Federation of Planets as developed by the players and writers of alt.starfleet.rpg (or ASR). Its purpose is to establish and maintain the Cultures and Civilizations Database, a database of information on any and all cultures, civilizations, races, and worlds, Federation and non-Federation, and provide it as a resource to ASR players and writers. The database is constantly growing. Any ASR player is welcome to add to the database after reading the following important notice on copyright.

Please address any questions, comments, or suggestions regarding UFPESCO to Elaine Chao, who plays the Secretary, J.P. Mossane.

What is ASR?

Alt.StarFleet.RPG (or ASR) is a Usenet newsgroup on the Internet. Using email and Usenet, ASR players create an interactive fiction universe based on Star Trek: The Next Generation, extrapolated approximately 40 years after the end of the series. Players create characters and, along with other players, develop stories set around starships, starbases, and the various beings that inhabit both. ASR, founded in 1991, has grown to 17 role-playing units, organized into 3 distinct timelines, involving around 100 players. It continues to grow and prosper.

To learn more about ASR, you can visit the ASR Homepage.

At this site, you can find instructions on how to join ASR in the ASR FAQ, as well as other official documents, and links to other starship homepages. This FAQ is also posted periodically on the newsgroup.
