Background Summary: ---------------------- Picket was born into a family of academics. Both parents, and three of four grandparents had careers as professors at major universities. With his strong intellect, it was a given that he would follow the family tradition and embark in an academic career. Picket's appointment to Star Fleet Academy was a spontaneous happenstance. One of the two candidates from his district was killed in an accident days before the appointment lists were due. All other potential candidates had already accepted invitations from other universities and declined to take the available slot. The senator in charge of Academy appointments was the guest presenter for the annual Massachusetts science competition, where Picket won first place in the senior division. Even though Picket had a full scholarship to MIT in the fall, the senator gave him the Academy recruiting pitch. To the Senator's shock, Picket immediately accepted the appointment. C. Skills Profile ================== Picket is obsessed with chaos theory. He is fascinated by the endless combinations affecting disparate areas such as mathematics, psychology, philosophy, and history. In most cases, his life decisions are calculated using this theory. Picket is not particularly athletic and performs best in tasks that rely more on planning and evaluation rather than strength or endurance. ========================================================================== VI. Recent Fitness Reports ========================== Picket is a solid, not outstanding, student. What sets him apart from his peers is his flexibility in approaching problems and exercises. Picket is one of a handful of cadets that already looks for solutions beyond the typical solutions force fed to the cadets in the standard academic curriculum. Recommend Picket as a command-track candidate, fast-track not indicated.
