Proposal P13.02.04

From StarFleet Bureau of Information

P13.02.04 Another proposal top improve recruiting.

Author: Roger Bedford
Sponsor: Jeffrey Jenkins
Proposal:
The Flag Council will make a concerted effort to reach out via social media. While these outlets exist in the club, the low level of information flowing through them makes them equally low in visibility. The Flag Council will also attempt to recruit via electronic mail former club members to rejoin the ranks. Further, each writer should take away the recruiting ideas from Admiralty level and initiate them in their own local group of family friends and associates.

The Flag Council will once again reach out to Starfleet International which has a membership approaching 4000 souls, and attempt to formulate a relationship with that membership. The club has many fan writers seeking outlets to share their skills, yet has nothing like ASR built into it for writers to game on or in. Therefore, it is still an untapped resource for ASR.

Rationale:
Given that Trek turns 50 next year, let's not miss the chance to push for old writers and new to join in the GOLDEN celebration and issue challenges.

Recent Misses:
a][ There was no concerted ASR effort for recruiting [in person, at theaters, or on line [that I am aware of] before or during the theatrical run of Into Darkness.
b][ there was no administrative effort [again, that I am aware of] to keep writers active on the various ships and stations. By this I mean above the CO level.
c][ there has been no real networking between writers on the joint posting or idea sharing level from any of the crews to which I am assigned, in fact I have not heard from fellow crew members on Constellation or Excalibur for over a year or more. All of these contribute to lack of growth and membership constriction within ASR.
