Title: Service Award -
Authors: Yonathan Katz Levanoni & Karen Fainges

Summary:

To recognize those players who have contributed to ASR over the
year(s), not by great talent but through consistent work. To reward
those who otherwise would not receive recognition for steady, reliable
work.

Rationale:

Some players simply slip through the cracks in the system. Sometimes it
is not the most talented writers that really make a unit. It is those who
consistently contribute over time. These players are the glue that
keeps ASR together. Without this players ASR could possibly not exist.
Simply by recognizing these players, we are showing the entire ASR family
that their hard work and contributions to ASR are important to the club.
They are the ones that have helped shape ASR into what it is today.

Text:
Who qualifies for this award?

Players who have played in ASR for 3 or more years and have posted
regularly and contributed to the missions of the ship. (Length of time
can be changed by a committee appointed by the chair during RT. However
the main purpose is to acknowledge those players who have contributed to
ASR over the year)

When would awards be issued?

Once a year at every October or April RT

What type of Award?

The award can be as simple as a list published after RT. With possibly
a Service medal for the character similar to long services medals given
in the armed forces and many organisations throughout the world.
(Length of time issue can be tackled by a committee appointed by the
chair of the RT.)

Who submits the award?

Fleet Commanders would submit the award. CO and XO's would be
responsible for notifying the Fleet CO of the individuals who are
suitable for the award.

Don't ranks reward people for length of service?

Promotion through the ranks in ASR does reward service to ASR. However
after a certain point you are not promoted further unless you are an
exceptional player, or someone notices you from the flag council. Some
players have reached the rank of Captain and that's as far as they will
go.

Due to limits on who can get promoted to flag rank they will stay at
the rank of Captain for a long period of time. (Some have been a captain
for over 5 years) Others as XO are held below this.
