We also opened a new branch of ASR, based on the latest and greatest Star Trek movie. Now as most of you may know Scott left us after the last RT however he decided to return in order to Get Origins started up. Most of our new members have gone to Origins. I would like to ask Scott to update us on the status of Origins, if that is acceptable?

What follows is the report from Scott. Please hold your applause until he is finished. Thank you

POSTING
-------

Posting **has** slowed considerably. This is in some part my fault, and in some part a loss of that initial enthusiasm. Regardless, here are the
numbers:

UNIT JULY AUG SEPT TOTAL
------------------------------------------------
CONSTELLATION 44 14 16 74
LEXINGTON 29 13 4 46
HOOD 21 7 12 40
INTREPID 21 7 2 30
------------------------------------------------
TOTALS 115 41 34 190

Though we have admittedly suffered a serious posting falloff, there are some mitigating circumstances here:

- I was AFK for near two months (August and most of September), which directly affected the posting rates of HOOD and CONSTELLATION for those months. Notice July for both units was strong...

- Alton Reich and Tim Cooke, the command team of INTREPID, spent some blocks of time AFK during August and September for various reasons. Tim's was most
serious- he was relocating to Toronto, and I think he's STILL AFK.

- HOOD has managed to plug along despite a real need for at least one, better 2, players. In short, she's under-crewed at the moment. She lost her HELM and NAV in the past two months.

- LEXINGTON has also had a shortfall in active players- Wendon Pettey has moved recently, and Tim Sowards had some pretty severe personal problems which precipitated his removal from command. Andrew F. has come in and done well, but he still has some players not writing.

I am currently trying to jump-start some posting as we speak. I can directly affect that on HOOD and CONNIE; I have to do more cheerleading for the other two. And I have tried recruiting "lurkers" from our own list, so far with no results.

VACANCIES:
----------

Here are our current numbers:

UNIT PLAYERS VACANCIES
----------------------------------------
CONSTELLATION 10 0
INTREPID 7 2 (NAV, COMM)
HOOD 6 3 (NAV, HELM, COMM)
LEXINGTON 9 1 (SCI)
----------------------------------------
TOTALS 32 6

These numbers are based on the current rosters, which are, for the most part, accurate. INTREPID may well be down its SCI officer, and Tim Sowards still has yet to post for CONNIE or LEXINGTON since he's been back.

HOOD could really use a player who will write. I am afraid, if we don't find one, the unit might close...which would be a shame, because Andy's the best CO of the group. He wants to make this work. I really need to find him a player. Suggestions would be welcome.

MISSIONS:
---------

- CONSTELLATION is in the falling action and racing towards the mission's resolution. So far, so good...but there are some issues about not picking up hooks all the time. We're still somewhat a collection of individual writers rather than a fully cohesive team. But we're getting there- there IS progress being made.

- INTREPID is stalled, mostly because Alton and Tim have been AFK. I
**may** throw my hat in for a third character there IF I can be certain my time is going to remain free. As far as I know, they remain somewhere in the middle of their first mission.

- HOOD is moving, slowly, forward. Andy and Brian are motivated; I am back...but really another active writer needs to join the mix: Dave's not regularly posting, Steve's been unusually slow. But the unit is showing some signs of responding. So the unit can and will work...and another writer would almost guarantee that. Still, Andy put an early end to the first mission due to slowing down, and has started a second one, this one investigating an archaeological team that uncovered something and suddenly fell silent after a distress call. Good classic-style mission.

- LEXINGTON is also stalled. I think a lot of this has to do with a fluctuation in player activity. I need to ping Andrew and see what I can do to help him.

Anyway, all in all, it's been a successful 5 months. We've written between 300-400 game posts in that time as a group, and managed to hold on to most of our players despite some serious down time by the heavy hitters in ORIGINS. That's a good thing. ORIGINS seems to be stable for the time being.

That said, we've failed outright in our attempt to boost recruitment for both ORIGINS and PRIME. The hope was, after the movie, that we'd capitalize on the movie's popularity and find more recruits. That didn't happen: while the movie was popular, it was out of the theaters- and out of the public
eye- by July. It did not have the sustained attention a TV series would have. So we missed out there. Maybe we can find some more interest when it is released on DVD.
