B. Background Summary:

Hot tempered even for the standards of Andorians Sheres had to learn to
control her emotions. The strict discipline imposed by the martial art
Alnaav (comparable to a mix of both Eastern and Western sword styles of
Earth) helped to conquer her impulses.

A hobby became a love and a love became almost religious worship. Sheres
found the art of battle with the sword to be a metaphor for many things in
life - discipline, dedication, achievement, even a touch of wisdom and
mysticism.

Her parents were great believers in that one should truly love what one
does.

While both father and mother would have liked to see their daughter follow
each ones respective footsteps, they encouraged and nurtured her passion,
even pointing her to similar traditions in Klingon and Terran culture.

Sheres delved into such opportunities. When she reached legal age she had
decided on the perfect way to roll both her parents expectations, her own
passions and the occasional artistic notion into one package. Sheres
joined Starfleet. She enrolled in Engineering with a special focus on
Astronautics and fighter craft design with piloting being a strong minor.

Sheres did well at the Academy as she not only knew what she was doing but
obviously enjoyed it as well. Scientific theory was never her strong point
but practical application of the effects was. She truly preferred the
hands-on approach and ferried well with it during her days at the Academy.
After graduation Sheres was assigned to the USS PACIFIC, a light cruiser
involved mostly in pirate hunts and custom inspections. Finding
anti-pirate duty surprisingly dull, Ensign P´Trell used her time well to
take advanced studies in some of Starfleet's `big guns´ - the battle
cruisers, heavy destroyers and command ships. She didn't make any major
breakthroughs of course but the computer models hinted that she could
perhaps squeeze a few extra percents of performance out of one model or
another.

Most of the PACIFIC´s duty consisted of patrols, routine custom checks and
a lot of waiting. The ship had one major brush with piracy however.

The PACIFIC was investigating rumors about a Ferengi who allegedly did
supply runs for an on-again, off-again group. Unusually bold for his
people the Ferengi found someone among the PACIFIC crew willing to
sabotage the engine for the right amount of latinum. Sheres P`Trell
literally tripped over the attempt when she used one of the engineering
labs late at night for one of her computer models.

The incident resulted in a broken nose, a few arrests and a favorable nod
from Sheres´ captain. Eventually it also resulted in Sheres´ promotion to
Lieutenant junior grade and to her transferal to the light cruiser USS
RYUJIN.

Until now P`Trell had been somewhat of a limited expert, confined only to
the technical workings of an isolated engineering system. On the
short-handed RYUJIN she rotated through positions and quickly learned to
see the bigger picture - the balance of one system against the other, the
way they interacted and the way the depended on each other but also the
way one could make them work together for maximum effect.

Before long Sheres found herself somewhat of a liaison between engineering
and OPS, tasked with coordinating the varying demands of the operations
department and making them happen on the engineering side.

When the RYUJIN was back in orbit around Mars for a routine overhaul
Sheres got her orders to report to the Starfleet engineering group of
Utopia Planitia. Apparently her old CO from the PACIFIC had passed along
some of her more daring design ideas and apparently some old friend of him
at Utopia had noticed.

Her experience vastly increased while she worked with the refit crews that
refurbished older ship designs into newer, more powerful and more
effective ones that were up to the task of competing with modern vessels.

The promotion to full lieutenant reflected that development.

To this day Sheres can't calculate the expansion ratio of a warp bubble in
her head but given time and tools she can take a Starfleet vessel apart
and put it back together again without any screws left over in the end.

Her dedication to the new position paid off with an opportunity to take
the junior bridge officers exams at SB GAMMA.

MISCELLENEOUS NOTES

A. Skills Profile

An engineer strong in general starship design, weapons technology,
deflector shields and mechanics. Less strong in physics, mathematics and
computers.

Can pilot runabouts, shuttles and small crafts - even fighters if it is
not in the middle of a battle.

B. Recent Fitness Report

Officer P´Trell has a very practical approach to engineering. I found her
wanting when it came to some of the physical theories underlying warp
drive but never when it came to fixing one that was performing odd. If she
can ever a built a more solid theoretical foundation for herself she'll
make a great engineer.

-- LT Polidori, CEO USS PACIFIC

Daring seems the word to describe officer P´Trell. She dares to think out
of the box, she dares to speak her mind and she dares to beat up a fellow
officer if she catches his red-handed trying to sabotage my ship. The
latter one is against regulations but I really don't care.

-- Captain Forsythe, CO USS PACIFIC

LT P´Trell became somewhat of a living interface, connecting the OPS and
engineering departments more closely than before. In the front line it is
essential to keep frictions and communication errors between departments
to an absolute minimum and LT P´Trell performed well in that capacity,
combining technical expertise with the needs of a situation.

-- LCDR Kosh, CEO USS RYUJIN

It seems there isn't a thing a military vessels that an Andorian can't
improve or will die trying. Some of LT P´Trell´s ideas literally won't fly
but some really could and perhaps better than the original idea. Not much
of an by-the-book engineer she gets the job done and has a special love
for the big vessels.

-- LCDR Siegmund, OPS Refit Group Seven, UTOPIA PLANITIA space yards

C. Psychological Profile

First and foremost Officer P´Trell is a warrior, make no mistake about
that.

She may have chosen engineering as her battle field but essentially she
still is an Andorian warrior, a fact accentuated by her recreational
interests. For now she is happy doing what she does but in the long run
the decision to give her a shot at command positions will pay off. I
predict that this is where she will truly blossom.

-- CMDR Freud, Counseling Department BLUE FLEET

D. Current Recreational Interests

Bladed Weapons and swordsmanship (Andorian, Klingon and Terran styles),
Iaido, Kendo, Zen Philosophy and Ice Sculpting

E. Miscellaneous Information

Her religious beliefs can be described as Pagan. She believes in the
Andorian gods of old and mixes these beliefs liberally with Zen and
Bushido philosophy.

Due to her interest in any martial art that uses a bladed weapon, Sheres
speaks Klingon and has a good grasp of many aspects of Klingon culture.
