This system lies only a few light years from David and Goliath Nebulae. The planet Beta Iotia V, better known simply as Iotia, was once a large forced-labor camp run by the Gorn Hegemony, but was liberated by forces from Deep Space 13. The planet now operates as the new home for that very station.
Also of interest in-system is the volcanic world Beta Iotia IV. Due to the volcanic activity of the world, naturally-forming crystalline structures have been uncovered, the uses of which are only now showing promise.
